CENTER VALLEY, Pa. - For the third straight year, the Patriot League will be represented by both a male and female running at the NCAA Cross Country Championships.

American senior Mark Allen and Navy sophomore Annie-Norah Beveridge each qualified for the championship races on Saturday at E.P. Tom Sawyer State Park in Louisville, Ky. The women's race will be run at Noon, with the men's following at 1:15 p.m.

Both runners earned their spot in the field through their performance at the NCAA Mid-Atlantic Regionals on Friday. Allen placed seventh in the men's race with a time of 30:41.40, earning an at-large berth to the NCAA Championships as the second fastest finisher not on an NCAA qualifying team. Beveridge placed ninth as she completed the 6k course in 20:37, and earned an at-large bid by virtue of finishing as one of the top-four runners not associated with an NCAA Championship-qualifying team.

It is the third straight year that both a men and women's runner has qualified for the NCAA Cross Country Championships. Last season, Colgate's Chris Johnson placed 115th in the men's race while Navy's Jess Palacio was 164th in the women's race. Allen is American's first NCAA qualifier since Steve Hallinan and Brendan Fennell both made it in 2007, while Beveridge follows Palacio and Amy Watson (2008) as Navy's third qualifier in the last five years.

The Mid-Atlantic Regional races were held at the Penn State University on Friday. In the men's race, American came in fourth place, Navy was sixth, Lehigh eighth, Bucknell 13th and Lafayette 23rd. On the women's side, Navy came in seventh followed by Bucknell in 12th, Lehigh in 15th, Lafayette in 22nd. The top two teams on each side earned an automatic berth to the NCAA Championships.

Runners who finished in the top 25 in each race earned Mid-Atlantic All-Region honors. On the men's side, Allen (7th) earned the distinction along with his teammates Jon Pope (16th) and Nick Reagan (22nd), Bucknell's John Dugan (20th) and Navy's Chris Galvin (23rd). All-Region honors in the women's race went to Beveridge (9th) and her senior teammate Brigid Byrne (25th).
